Pakini Hui Wind Farm, South Point Hawaii
Tawhiri Power LLC is an independent power producer that supplies electricity for the State of Hawaii. The Pakini Nui Wind Farm is Tawhiri’s principle project and is located near South Point on the Big Island of Hawaii. Since 2007, the wind farm has supplied approximately 18,000 Hawaiian homes per year with a green and renewable source of electrical power.
However, this is the second wind farm at South point. The original Kamaoa Wind Farm came on line in 1987 and was decommissioned in 2006. There is now several graveyards of the original towers. There was a Vermont connection in the original wind farm.
